Thomas J. Cliver, 86, of Linton, passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006 at his residence.
He was born in Sullivan County on Dec. 14, 1929 to William Cliver and Mary Leigh Cliver.
He was an U.S. Army veteran, a member of the American Legion Post No. 22, and retired from the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Crane.
He is survived by his wife, Willadean Jenkins; one son Jeff Cliver of Carlisle; one daughter Angela Cliver of Linton; four brothers, Danny Cliver of Mooresville, Jerry Cliver of Florida, Robert Cliver of Dugger, Charles Cliver of Linton; two sisters; Patty Manuel, and Freda Boyd, both of Dugger; five grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Cliver; two brothers, Bill and John Cliver, and two sisters, Rosemary Smith and Phyllis Chapman.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Woodard Cemetery with the Rev. John Booker officiating.
Friends may call at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday.
