Donald R. Franklin, 63, of Linton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19 at Greene County General Hospital.
Born March 1, 1943, in Linton, he was the son of Paul L. and Bonnie M. (Enochs) Franklin.
He married Elise A. McCammon on Sept. 10, 1967.
An U.S. Army veteran, he received the Silver Saber award from the Army National Guard for 27 years of service. He later worked at the General Electric Linton Plant where he retired in 1995. He then worked for Quality Refrigeration for 11 years.
He attended the Dugger Church of Christ and was a member of the Linton BPO Elks 866 where he served in the office of "Tiler" for nine years, American Legion Post 22 and FOP.
Survivors include his wife; Elise A. (McCammon) Franklin; mother, Bonnie M. (Enochs) Franklin; one son, Jeffrey R. (Nichole) Franklin of Linton; one daughter, Julie (Jeff) Smith of Dugger; four grandchildren, Jocelyn Turpin, Janzen Franklin, Jackie Smith, and Jordyn Smith; one sister, Iris (John) Markle of Linton; and two brothers, Dale (Phyllis) Franklin of Linton and David (Joan) Franklin of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday with Nick Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with full military graveside rites
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton.
There will be an Elks Memorial Service conducted at 7 p.m. today.
