Russell L. Gamble, 87, of Linton passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 25, 2006 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Feb. 22, 1919 in Clay County, he was the son of Daniel and Sarah (Smith) Gamble.
He was a retired farmer, enjoyed raising Beagle dogs and was an avid hunter.
On March 19, 1941, he married Lucille (Bridgewater) Gamble, who survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Judy (Gamble) Vanotor of Orlando, Fla., and Connie (Gerald) Miller of Linton; three sons, Richard T. (Judy) Gamble of Coal City, James M. (Rhonda) Gamble of Linton, and Thomas L. (Leah) Gamble of Jasonville; two sisters, Norma (Kenneth) Eaton of Mishawaka and Donna Smith of Lakeville; three brothers, Kenneth (Dorothy) Gamble of Granger, John Joe Gamble of New Carlisle, and Jerry (Barbara) Gamble of Cory; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Daniel Gamble, Jr. and a brother, Gene Gamble.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at McClannahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville with Pastor Sherman Reed officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Dugger.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. on Saturday until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greene County Humane Society Shelter.
