Wendell T. "Doc" Thomas, 83, of Linton and formerly of Beech Grove, died at 9:11 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 at Monroe Hospital in Bloomington.
He was born in Linton on Jan. 30, 1923, the son of Wayne and Lillie (Hollingsworth) Thomas.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, and retired from the Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 22, the VFW Post No. 7118, and the Moose Lodge, all of Linton.
Survivors include his daughter, Marsha Shoaf-Ayres (and husband Randy) of Franklin; a son, Steve Thomas and companion Athaleen of Indianapolis; a brother, Jesse Thomas and wife Eula, of Linton; a sister, Wilhelmina Lehman of Linton; four grandchildren, Carrie, Chrissy, Rickie, and Tammy; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Miller Thomas and his parents.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel with Jeff Hauersperger officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion and VFW of Linton.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday and from noon until time of service on Wednesday.
