James E. Hollars, 80, of Ellettsville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006 at his residence.
Born Aug. 1, 1926, in Linton, he was the son of Edward Hollars and Ica (Smith) Hollars.
He was retired from the Indiana University Central Store, had worked at Sarkes Tarzian, part-time at Classic Lanes, where he ran the three-man tournament, and at Bybee Stone. He attended Lifeway Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Cochran (Glen) of Ellettsville; one grandson, Scott Cochran of Ellettsville; one sister, Mary Scott (Edward) of Bloomington; two nieces, Beverly Burkhart and Sandy Deckard; and two nephews, Gary Scott and Dee Haflich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Grace (Freeman) Hollars, who died July 9; one brother, Lenord Hollars; two sisters, Patty Mayham and Helen Haflich and husband Herb.
Service will be 11 a.m. on Friday at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville, with Pastor Kevin Albert officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay City.
