Damon H. McLaughlin, 78, of Bedford, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006 at Kindred Hospital South in Greenwood.
Born Jan. 24, 1928, in Lyons, he was the son of Orville and Opal (Richardson) McLaughlin.
He married Helen Rayhill on May 19, 1961, in Bedford, and she survives.
He retired in 1980 from the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center fire department. He was also former owner of McLaughlin Oil Co. in Bedford.
He was a member of Bedford Masonic Lodge F&AM No. 14 and Bedford American Legion Post 33. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Helen McLaughlin; one daughter, Melissa Cody and her husband, James, of Linton; three granddaughters, Holly Kittle and her husband, Josh, of Danville, Ill., and Stacey Cody and Natalie Cody, both of Linton; one grandson, Willy Cody of Linton; one great-grandson, Jacob Kittle of Danville; and one sister, Melba Keesey of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, June Bogard.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford. Burial will be at Cresthaven Memory Gardens, with graveside rites performed by American Legion Post 33.
