Dale Kirk, 80, of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006 at his residence.
Born Dec. 13, 1925, in Buena Vista, he was the son of Russell and Ethel (Patterson) Kirk.
He was retired from Indiana Bell Telephone after 35 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion Post in Linton and the Telephone Pioneers.
Survivors include his wife, Norma (Canada) Kirk; two daughters, Barbara Tenney of Knoxville, Tenn., and Martha Ann Thompson of Jacksonville, Fla.; one son, Robert Dale Kirk of Paoli; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Dillman and Donna Kay Keller, both of Bloomfield; one sister, Martha Wyatt of Bloomington; one granddaughter, Dierdre Haubein of Jacksonville, Fla.; four step-grandchildren, Mike Saunders and Jason Keller, both of Indianapolis, Courtney Dillman of Bloomington and Andrea Dillman of Solsberry; one great-grandson, Gavin Haubein of Jacksonville; three step-great-grandchildren, Pete Saunders, Abby Saunders and Annie Saunders; and three nephews, Edward, Russell and Andrew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Delmer Kirk; one brother-in-law, Bill Wyatt; one stepdaughter, Jane Ann Saunders; one niece, Janet Smith; and one nephew, Thomas Wyatt.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Friday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel in Bloomington, with Roger Clark officiating. Burial will be at Carmichael Cemetery, with the Linton American Legion Post conducting military graveside rites.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
