Laverne Medlock, 80, of Linton passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006 at Glenburn Nursing Home in Linton.
She was born June 26, 1926 in Greene County to Jesse and Lelia (Reed) Wright.
On March 1, 1947, she married Kenneth M. Medlock.
She worked at GC Murphy Department Store for 29 years before retiring in 1991. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and a charter member of Linton Ladies Civitan Club.
She is survived by her husband; Kenneth M. Medlock of Linton; son, Steve Medlock of Newberry; son, Terry (Carla) Medlock of Linton; daughter, Peggy Flath of Evansville, five grandchildren, Melissa (Perry) Dupree, Brandon Flath, D'Lee (Brian) Mayfield, Amber (Brian) McAtee, Kenton Medlock; 10 great-grandchildren; Emily, Faith, Cameron and Addison Dupree, Chloie Mayfield, K'Lynn Medlock, Hayden and Haylea Flath, Grant and Kate McAtee; a sister Josephine (Harold) Underwood of New Albany; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister Dorothy Padgett.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel with Rev. Dick Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-9 p.m., and Monday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton.
The family has requested memorial contributions to be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
