Don Alvidore Hunter, 88, of Bloomfield, passed away 12:25 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 at his residence in Bloomfield.
Born Oct. 6, 1918 in Greene County, he was the son of Winfred and Elsie (Huffman) Hunter.
He was a supervisor for REMC retiring Nov. 1, 1983 after 45 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, a 32nd degree Mason Bloomfield Masonic Lodge 84 FA&M, VFW, Bloomfield American Legion Post 196, life members in all and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: two daughters, Beverly and her husband Fred Byers of Bloomington and Reba Hunter Floyd of Melbourne, Fla.; one brother, David Hunter of Bloomfield; one sister, Audrey Freeman of Ohio; six grandchildren, Linda Britton, Lisa Coffey, and Lori Newsom all of Bloomington, Jeffrey Floyd of Indialantic, Fla., Leonard Hunter of Gosport, and Alice Guthrie of Indianapolis; 10 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, whom he married March 16, 1935, Leona Hunter on July 30, 2001, one son, Richard Lee Hunter, one great grandson, five sisters, and two brothers.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Billy Ed Hostettler officiating. Burial will be in Calvertville cemetery in rural Bloomfield. Military honors will be presented by American Legion Post 196 Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to service Thursday at the funeral home. Masonic Lodge services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home by the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge 84.
