Rosa Marie Andrew, 84, of Beech Grove, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006.
She was born April 23, 1922 in Clay County, the daughter of Ewald and Estelle (Heck) Wegner. She spent her childhood and adolescent years on the family farm near Brazil.
She graduated from Brazil High School in 1940. She graduated from Indiana Central College (now U of I) with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received her Masters from Butler University in 1964.
She married John Robert Andrew on June 2, 1946 and they enjoyed 59 years together.
She began her teaching career at Jasonville Schools and continued teaching at Beech Grove Schools. She continued her career in education as a guidance counselor at Center Grove High School, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and Faith United Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, and brothers, Paul and Richard Wegner.
She is survived by son, Dale; daughter-in-law Louise; granddaughter Lauren; step-granddaughters Leslie Lynch and Lindsay Milli; and brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Ellen Lankford. In addition she is survived by nieces and nephews, Eloise Saxman of Carmel, Donald Wegner of Brazil, Delores Hadden of Reelsville, and Bruce Lankford of Orlando.
Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main St., Beech Grove, will hold visitation Friday from 4-8 p.m. with funeral services Saturday at 10 a.m. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Beech Cemetery in Coal City. Memorial gifts in her name may be made to the Beech Grove Scholarship Fund.
