Haldon L. Shepherd, 83, of Linton, passed away at 2:45 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 20, 1923, in Sullivan County, the son of Paul and Arethia (Miller) Shepherd.
He worked for 44 years for Indiana Bell Telephone, was a member of Linton First Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Mary E. (Dozier) Shepherd; a daughter, Claudia L. Hensley, her husband, David, of Linton; a son, Hal Shepherd, and his wife, Melissa, of Linton; a sister, Lorene Call and her husband, Ray, of Elwood; five grandchildren, Hal Shepherd III, Scott Shepherd, Matthew Hensley, Jonathan Hensley and Sarah Hensley; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Rose and Adara Katherine Shepherd; and a niece, Janice Mott and her husband, Ray, of Vincennes.
Graveside service will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Monday at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with the Rev. David Tyra officiating.
Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
The family has suggested that memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church in Linton or Good Samaritan Hospice through the funeral home.
