Elva "Collins" Lee, of Mishawaka and formerly of Osceola, passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2006.
Born June 13, 1917 in Jasonville, she was the daughter of Lewis and Mary (Huffman) Bennett. In 1935 in Sullivan, as Elva Bennett, she married Leslie Collins, who preceded her in death on July 11, 1962. In 1970 in South Bend, she married Luther Lee, who passed away in 1976.
Before her illness, she was active in her church, Abundant Life Fellowship in South Bent, putting in many hours of service.
Survivors include: her daughter, Shirley Collins-Miller and son-in-law, Merv, of Osceola; three grandchildren, Terry (Tara) Miller, Vicki (Joe) Jenner and Todd Collins, a brother, Dewey Bennett of Anderson; a sister, Ruth Jeter of Indianapolis; nine great-grandchildren, Brandon, Collin and Trey Holt, Justin Miller, Corey, Adam, and Joey Miller, and Dylan and Alexis Collins; three step-daughters, Barbara (Charles) Reihl, Marilyn (Tommy) Lewis and Margo (Ken) Underly.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leslie Collins; her second husband, Luther Lee; a son, Charles "Eddie" Collins; a granddaughter, Stacy Miller-Krol on June 22, 1996; her brothers, Elmer, Ralph and Leon Bennett; and her sisters, Marjorie Ohler and Kathleen West.
Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. today at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, with the Rev. Don Francis officiating.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until time of service today at the funeral home.
A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at K of P Cemetery in Hymera.
