Ray L. Guthrie, 85, of Vincennes, formerly of Newberry, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006 at 2:30 a.m. at the Lodge of the Wabash in Vincennes.
Born Dec. 19, 1920 in Danville, Ill., he was the son of Doyle Fayne and Nora (Petit) Guthrie.
Ray was an Army air core veteran serving in World War II and a member of the Newberry Methodist Church and the VFW.
Survivors include: two daughters, Lana S. Graf of Switz City and Teresa A. Guthrie of Bloomington; one son, Michael R. Guthrie of Bloomington; one grandson, Jacob A. Graf of Bloomfield; three grandchildren, Taylor A., Felicity D., and Baylin A. Graf; one sister, Helen Hawkins of Draseo, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Ima Jean Guthrie in 1994; one grandson, Samuel G. Graf; three brothers, Thurston, Donald, and John Guthrie; two sisters, Raye Moomaw and Mary Valentine; and his parents.
There will be no public visitation, and graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sept. 9, at Prairie Chapel Cemetery where military honors will be presented.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donors favorite charity.
