Don E. "Doc" Eccles, 82, of Jasonville passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, in Health South Long Term Acute Care Hospital in Terre Haute.
He was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Howesville to John E. Eccles and Juanita Miller Eccles.
He retired from quality assurance at Pfizer after 35 years of service.
He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6225, American Legion Post 172, and was a 50 year member of Lodge 530 Free & Accepted Masons. He also was a member of Jasonville Lions Club and Shakamak Community Church. He graduated from Lewis Township High School in Coalmont, Class of 1941.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy J. Eccles, whom he married Nov. 30, 1973; one daughter, Tracy Eccles of Patricksburg; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Cindy Eccles of Whiteland, Brad and Debbie Eccles of Jasonville, and Zach and Anne Eccles of Indianapolis; two sisters, Joanna Mae Boruff and Betty June Rhoderick, both of Indianapolis; one brother, Charles F. Eccles of Plainfield; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, William T. Eccles.
Service is 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Shakamak Community Church in Jasonville, with the Rev. Chris McKinney officiating.
Burial is in Peavey Cemetery in Howesville, with graveside rites.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday and 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday, both at the church.
There will be a Masonic memorial service on Tuesday evening.
McClahanan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville handled the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Gideon International Bible Society or a favorite charity.
