Ruby Esther Hughes, 88, of Hendricksville, passed away Saturday Sept. 23, 2006 in Bloomington Hospital.
Born Jan. 28, 1918, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Clyde W. Carter, Sr., and Rhoda (Ogle) Carter.
She was a homemaker and loved to cook and bake, especially cinnamon rolls.
She was a member of the Solsberry Christian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Hughes of Bloomington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Charisse Hughes of Solsberry, and Brian and Kelly Hughes of Gosport; two sisters, Violet Carter McClure of Camby, and Wanda Carter Stephens or White Springs, Florida; three grandchildren, Seth Hughes, Jennifer Perry and her husband, William, and Andrew Miller; and two great-grandchildren, Liam Perry and Jessica Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald "Red" Hughes, in 1990; two brothers, Clyde W. Carter Jr. and Howard W. Carter; and one sister, Catherine Carter Deutsch.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Bloomington, with the Rev. Byron Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Church Cemetery in Hendricksville.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
The family suggests to friends who wish that memorial contributions may be given to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in care of Day Funeral Home.
