Dale Mihlfeld, 73, of Linton, passed away at 12:02 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Sept. 4, 1932 in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of Clifford and Ethel (Bunch) Mihlfeld. He was married to Vinita (Wells) Mihlfeld.
He was a pit foreman for Peabody Coal Company, retiring in 1989 after 17 years of service. He was a member of Saron United Church of Christ of Linton, a past member of Civitan and Lintones, and he coached Little League.
Survivors include: his wife Vinita Mihlfeld of Linton; two daughters, Susan and her husband Bill Yoder of Gwinn, Mich., and Louise and her husband R. Randall Baker of Linton; two sons, Ed Mihlfeld and his wife Lisa of Switz City, and Gary Mihlfeld of Linton; a brother Lyle Mihlfeld of Lakeview, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Michael Yoder, Shannon Morales, Beau Baker, Allison File, Seth Mihlfeld, Holly Mihlfeld, Trent Mihlfeld, Leah Mihlfeld, and Heather Fredrick; and six great-grandchildren, Brian, Bailey, and Alyssa Morales, Alec File, Brayden Baker, and Brianna Tannehill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday at Saron United Church of Christ with the Rev. Mike Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel, and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the church.
The family has suggested that memorial donations be made to the Saron United Church of Christ Youth Group.
