Gerald F. Vandeventer, 68, of Bloomington, passed away at 5:03 p.m. on Aug. 3, 2006 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born Oct. 5, 1937 in Greene County, he was the son of Floyd and Ruby Fern (Wells) Vandeventer.
He worked at GE in Bloomington for 27 years before retiring. He was a member of the Moose and the Eagles lodges in Bloomington.
Survivors include: three daughters, Debora and her husband, Jim Pennington of Boonville, Va., "V.V." Vandeventer of Springville and Lisa and husband, Bret Tucher of Ellettsville; one grandson, Jeffery Phillips of Bloomington; two granddaughters Amy Saileau, of Huntingburg and Mindy Marshall, of Evansville; one great-granddaughter April Lynn Saileau, of Huntingburg; one brother, Wilbur Vandeventer of Bloomfield; three sisters, Deloris Kristler, of Linton, Erma Weaver, of Ellettsville and Carolyn Carmichael, of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Jeffery Joe and Steven Lee Vandeventer; two sisters Geneva Gilbert and Betty Meek; and two brothers Donald and Jerry Ray Vandeventer.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Eugene Helms officiating. Burial will follow at Solsberry Cemetery.
