TUSCALOOSA, ALA. -- Grace Leola (Dyer) Gourdouze, 85, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and formerly of Worthington, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.
Born Aug. 7, 1920 in Worthington, she was the daughter of Alpha Earl Dyer and Clara Ingba (Wall) Dyer. On Nov. 20, 1948 in Manchester, she married Frank Rex Gourdouze of Bicknell.
She graduated from Worthington High School in 1939 and attended Indianapolis City Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her RN Diploma in 1943.
Survivors include: her husband of 57 years, Frank Gourdouze of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; three children, Randall Gourdouze of Auburn, Ala., and twin daughters, Robbyn and Richelle Gourdouze, both of Tuscaloosa; a daughter-in-law Tammie (Burnside) Gourdouze; two granddaughters, Alison (Gourdouze) Starr, and Aimee (Gourdouze) Martin, both of Auburn, Ala.; three great-grandsons, Wes and Wade Starr and Brandon Martin; a brother Dr. Wilson Dyer of Worthington; and a sister Marjorie (Dyer) Miller of Worthington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, a daughter-in-law Janice Sue (Breed) Gourdouze, brothers, Wilbur, Earl Jr., Robert, Marvin, James Russell, and Harry Dyer, and a sister Allegra (Dyer) Crooke.
Graveside service will be conducted at Worthington Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday with Keith Bellinger officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Way.
Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington will be in charge of arrangements.
