Richard E. Leavitt, 81, of Canal Fulton, Ohio, passed away Thursday, July 13.
Born in Indiana, he spent most of his life in Ohio.
He worked for Consolidated Freightways and PIE Trucking. While living in Canal Fulton, he was active in Rotary, American Legion and the VFW. He was a lifetime member of the Masons, and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Lynda (Fisher) Leavitt; daughters, Elaine (Loras) Kotz, of Phoenix, Ariz., Cindy (Rex) Whetstone, of Canton, Ohio; grandsons,Adam (Gina) Ridgway, of Phoenix, Ariz., Jason (Becky) Long, of Hilliard, Ohio, Ben "B.J." Whetstone, of Bowling Green, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Shelby Long and Katrina and Jonathan Ridgway; sister, Esther Hines; brother, Robert (Billie) Leavitt, both of Indiana; sister-in-law, Saundra Farkas of Akron, Ohio; and Vicky (Jim) Gilheany of Canada; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalyn; brother, Howard Leavitt, and sisters, Ruth Vincent and Louise Steward.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home in Canal Fulton.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Perry Veterans Memorial Fund at Perry High School.
