Joyce Ellen (Frye) Emery passed away Monday at 6:55 a.m. at her residence surrounded by her loved ones, following a long illness.
Born Aug. 28, 1931, in Bloomfield, she was the daughter of Clovis Willie "Buck" Frye and Nona Elizabeth (Frey) Frye. She was the granddaughter of Grace Elizabeth (Townsend) Frey and William C. Frey; and Mary (Fuller) Frye and John Frye.
She is survived by her husband Jerdon Lee Emery; one daughter, Kelly Rae Emery Anderson, and one granddaughter, Audrey Ellen Anderson, all of Bloomfield, and Audrey's fiancÚ Justin Memering, of Vincennes.
She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Belle Hall, of Bloomington, two brothers, Dale Frye of Bloomfield, and Jerald Frye of Linton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Bloomfield High School with the Class of 1949 and married Jerdon on Dec. 5, 1952. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Bloomfield Woolen Mill; worked part-time at the treasurer's office of Greene County and at NSWC Crane. Her most cherished role was spent as a homemaker.
She was a member of the Antioch Christian Church, Bloomfield. She was devoted Christian.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield. The service will be led by the Rev. Billy Ed Hostettler and the Rev. Arlen Pope. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service Saturday.
Burial will be in the Antioch Christian Church Cemetery.
