Vernon R. Roach, 93, of Bloomfield, passed away at 10:40 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2006 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Nov. 28, 1912 in Greene County, he was the son of David Chandler Roach and Mary Frances Cullison Roach.
He was a self-employed farmer and worked for the Florida Department of Transportation as a bridge specialist. He was one of the oldest members at the Mineral United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Nelson E. Roach and his wife Carol J. of Bloomfield, and Daniel D. Roach and his wife Sherry of New Castle; nine grandchildren, Steve Baird, Elizabeth Shidlar, Dennis Roach, Larry Baird, Denise Mathes, Diana Rollins, Dana Roach, Gayla Guetig, and Robert Roach; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Evelyn Lucille Vest Roach in 1931, his second wife Opal Louise Kinnamen Roach in 1985, his third wife Glenda A. (Groves) Ferguson Roach in 2004, a daughter Velma Ruth (Roach) Baird, six brothers, Clarence, Aden, Ivan, Leslie, Lexie, and Jesse, and five sisters, Verna Roach, Edna Crouch, Violet Wilcoxon, Olive Veatch, and Mary King.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Walnut Grove Church of God with Rev. Lloyd Swango and the Rev. Ralph Roach officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home Bloomfield and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
