Janice Ruth Emery, 73, of Switz City, passed away at 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2006 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Feb. 23, 1933 in Elnora, she was the daughter of Dale Williams and Ethel (Shaver) Williams.
She was a clerk for the transportation department at NWSC Crane. She was a member of the Switz City Baptist Church, the Lyons OES, and was formerly with the ladies auxiliary at the Greene County General Hospital. She was recognized by the American Diabetes Association as a long-time survivor, fighting the disease since the age of six.
Survivors include: two daughters, Sandy Carpenter of Linton and Jane Hall of Mitchell; three grandchildren, Bryce Carpenter, Elizabeth Carpenter, and Garrett Beatty.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Marvin Williams.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield with Rev. Daniel Holtsclaw officiating.
There will be no public visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Greene County Humane Society.
