COAL CITY -- Ray Wells, 93, of Coal City, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2006 at his residence.
Born Nov. 23, 1912 in Owen County, he was the son of Morton and Grace Hauser Wells. He had been married to Louella Hubbell Wells.
He was the owner and operator of Wells Oil for several years. He was a member of the Coal City Community Bible Church, a 40-year member of the Brazil Eagles Club and was an avid square dancer. He loved farming, motorcycle and horseback riding and motorboats.
Survivors include: a son Richard E. Wells of Coal City; two daughters, Madona and her husband Von Slough of Coal City, and Wanema and her husband Stanley McBride of Indianapolis; a sister Opal Schopmeyer; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Louella, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with the Rev. James Flater officiating. Burial will be in the Beech Cemetery.
