G. Evelyn Preble, 88, of Linton, passed away at 8:14 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Feb. 5, 1918 in Coal City, she was the daughter of Harold L. Duncan and Sarah R. (Roush) Duncan. On Aug. 6, 1942 in Charleston, S.C., she married Dennis H. Preble.
She was a homemaker and a switchboard operator during World War II at Coal City. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church for 58 years.
Survivors include: her husband Dennis Preble of Linton; two daughters, Denise A Gabbard of Linton, and Linda E. and her husband Garry Russell of Princeton; a son John D. Preble and his wife Sue Ann of Linton; and five grandchildren, Annette Agin, SSgt. Keith A. Gabbard, Dusty Russell, and Emilee and Julie Preble.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ermil Glen 'Bud' and William D. 'Bill' Duncan.
Funeral service at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday with Michael Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home.
