John D. Bowersock, 71, of Bloomfield, passed away at 6:45 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2006 at Indianapolis.
Born April 4, 1935 in Worthington, he was the son of George Robert Bowersock and Mary Ann (Pruitt) Bowersock.
He was a construction worker on highways/railroads retiring in 1997. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Worthington. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include: a son Kevin E. Bowersock and his wife Sabrina of Indianapolis; a daughter Beverly J. and her husband Terry L. Sankey of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren, Jeremy W. Brewington, Heather A. Way, Chellsie, Kelisha, Zachary and Braxton Bowersock, and Melanie VanCleave; a brother Amos Bowersock of Linton; and three sisters, Norma Jean Crouse of Mooreville, Beaulah Harris of Martinsville, and Barbara Herman of Paoli.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Abe, Loren and Dennis Bowersock, two sisters, Corene Bowersock and Georgie Ruth Shaw, and a grandson Kevon Bowersock.
Funeral service will be at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel at 1 p.m. on Wednesday with the Rev. Wayne Grace officiating. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery in Worthington. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 22.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, and 9 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
