Terry Townsend, 59, of Newberry, passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2006 at his residence.
Born June 22, 1946 in Greene County, he was the son of Marvel Harold Townsend and Ellen Louise Jolliff. His step-mother was Olive Orr Townsend. On September 20, 1968, he married Sandra (Booher) Townsend.
He was a truck driver for Regal Beloit Trucking for 15 years. He was an U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea.
Survivors include: his wife Sandra of Newberry; a son Brad Townsend and his wife Nancy of Elnora; a sister Amber Townsend of Odon; six grandchildren, Bailey Conklin, Wendy Townsend, Stetson Townsend, Mariah Malone, Bryan Schultz, and Heath Schultz; a great-grandchild Dominic Schultz; his step-mother Olive Townsend of Newberry; two sisters, Judith Ann and her husband Bob Harding of Bedford, and Cheryl and her husband Mark Dwyer of Stanford; a brother Max H. Townsend and his wife Karen of Scotland; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter April D. Malone and a son Thomas Lee Townsend.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Elnora United Methodist Church with Bro. Robert Frells and Bro. Bob Duncan officiating. Burial will be at Mount Nebo Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Elnora and Odon American Legion and V.F.W.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today at the Poindexter-Hall & McClure Funeral Home, Odon Chapel and 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
