Roy Lee Jerrell, 67, of Linton, passed away at 4:55 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2006, at St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel.
Born July 19, 1938 in Linton, he was the son of Luther D. Jerrell and Mary Elizabeth (Mason) Jerrell. On July 12, 1958, he married Nancy L. Jerrell.
He was an U.S. Army veteran, having been stationed in Germany. He was a coal miner with Amax Coal Co. with 30 years of service, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Mount Moriah Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Nancy Jerrell of Linton; three sons, Rick Jerrell, Tony Jerrell and his wife Tami, and Roy Jerrell Jr. and his wife Deborah, all of Linton; grandchildren, Lee Jerrell and his wife Megan of Ellettsville, Clint Jerrell and his wife Nikki, Ashlie Jerrell, Kyllie Jerrell, Jacob Garwood, Brandon Jerrell, Brady Jerrell and Parker Jerrell; three great-grandchildren, Dylon and Hallie Jerrell and Layla Lee Renee Garwood; eight brothers, Arthur "Red" Jerrell and his wife Nina, Robert Jerrell and his wife Ruth, Larry Jerrell and his wife Brenda, Donald Jerrell, Eddie Jerrell and his wife Wilma, all of Linton, Mike Jerrell and his wife Joan of Worthington Bill Jerrell of Dugger, and Dan Jerrell of Linton; and a sister Betty and her husband Mark Gilstrap of Jeffersonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, James, David, and Joe Jerrell.
Funeral service will be at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel Linton at 11 a.m. on Monday. Burial will be at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Bucktown.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.
