MARTINSVILLE -- Delbert W. Fidler, 66, of Martinsville, passed away at 3:46 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Morgan Hospital and Medical Center in Martinsville.
Born June 12, 1939 in Washington, he was the son of Herschel Douglas Fidler and Vernie Fidler. In 1958, he married Carol Jean (Deer) Fidler. She passed away in 1991. On Aug. 14, 1993, he married Doris M. (Brady) Sichting Fidler.
He retired in 1994 from the Indianapolis Public Schools after 32 years in the building and grounds division as a glazer. He was a member of the Eastview Church in Martinsville and a past member of the Monrovia Volunteer Fire Department and the United Midget Racing Association. He enjoyed fishing and auto racing.
Survivors include: his mother Vernie Fidler of Lyons; his second wife Doris Fidler of Martinsville; two sons, Don Fidler of Dalton, Ga., and Doug Fidler of Mooresville; a daughter Kim Fidler of Greenwood; a step-son John Sichting of Martinsville; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale Fidler of Princeton, and Victor Fidler of Sandborn; and a sister Karen Hostetter of Marco.
He was preceded in death by his father Herschel, his first wife Carol Jean, and two step-sons, Roger and Chris Sichting.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Neal & Summers Mortuary, 110 E. Poston Road, Martinsville, with Rev. Rick Miller officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
Friend may call from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the mortuary.
