Robert "Bob" Ronald Bryant, 66, of Martinsville, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born March 26, 1940 in Martinsville, he was the son of Franklin Bryant and Evelyn Marie (Kappus) Bryant. On July 22, 1961, he married Bertha Lee (Wigal) Bryant.
He retired after 33 1/2 years from General Motors Truck & Bus in Indianapolis in 1994 as a forklift operator. He was a graduate of Switz City High School, class of 1958. He was a member of the Paragon Bible Baptist in Paragon and the Paragon Conservation Club. He served in the U.S. Navy until July 8, 1964.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and his grandchildren. He was also an avid sports fan.
Survivors include: his wife Bertha of Martinsville; four daughters, Roxane Scott of Martinsville, Joy Lynn Smith of Martinsville, Betti Schenck of Martinsville, and Bobbi Jo Bryant of Franklin; six grandchildren, Destiny, Chelsea and Ian Scott, Cody and Skylar Smith, and Tristan Schenck; and a sister Shirley Dalton of Mooresville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at Neal & Summers Mortuary, 110 E. Poston Road, Martinsville, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Cleve Cross, Rev. the Jim Burkett, and the Rev. Tim Bolin officiating. Burial will be in Samaria Cemetery at Paragon with military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the mortuary.
