Steven Wayne Baker, 52, of Indianapolis and formerly of Linton, passed away Wednesday evening, April 19, 2006 at his residence in Indianapolis.
Born July 25, 1953 in Greenfield, he was the son of Richard and Joetta Faye (Bennett) Baker.
He worked in the music industry, singing for several years and touring throughout the United States. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Air Force.
Survivors include: his father Richard Baker of Linton; his wife Helen (Corley) Baker of Indianapolis; two daughters, Starla Baker Criss of Lyons and Kimberly Baker of Springfield, Ill.; two sons, Shane Baker of Lyons and Richard Baker of Springfield, Ill.; a step-daughter Shawn Borjas of Indianapolis; a brother Mike Baker of Linton; three sisters, Debra Coleman and Penny Berry, both of Linton, and Venus Hollifield of Sullivan; and seven grandchildren, Sabra, Haley, Colton and Alex Baker, and Dalton, Shelby, and Chantell Criss.
He was preceded in death by his mother Joetta Fay Baker, and a sister Brenda Ashburn.
Funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel with Carl Beadle officiating. A committal service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Fairview Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be by the American Legion Post 22.
