Robert J. "Bob" Long, 70, of Bloomfield, passed away at 7:55 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Oct. 16, 1935 in Greene County, he was the son of Ray D. Long and Nellie Hill. On Feb. 22, 1958, he married Dianna (Bucher) Long.
He was self-employed in the trucking business and had retired. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Bloomfield American Legion Post #196 and the Odd Fellows Lodge in Bloomfield.
Survivors include: his wife Dianna of Bloomfield; a son Robert Darren Long of Terre Haute; a daughter Shawna Jane Long of Bloomfield; a daughter-in-law Amy Long of Terre Haute; two grandchildren, Hannah Louise Long and Noah Vernon Long, both of Terre Haute; and a brother Eddie D. Long of Newberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Lisa Monique Long, on Sept. 5, 1960, two brothers, Donald and Marvin Long, and his mother and father-in-law Vernon and Kathryn Bucher.
Funeral service was Sunday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Billy Ed Hostettler and the Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery at Bloomfield. Military rites were held by the American Legion Post #196 of Bloomfield.
Visitation was Saturday and prior to the service Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Antioch Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
