COLUMBUS -- C. Steve Shepherd, 56, of Columbus, passed away at 7:29 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born May 2, 1949 in Bloomington, he was the son of Charles R. and Betty R. White Shepherd. On May 23, 1996, he married Kimberly D. Childers.
He was the Supervisor of Customer Services at the Columbus Post Office and was formerly employed at the Bloomington and Bloomfield Post Offices. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Pentecostal Faith Assembly Church in Bloomington. A graduate of Edgewood High School in 1967, he attended Indiana University.
Survivors include: his mother Betty of Bloomington; his wife Kimberly of Columbus; a son Charles Denver Shepherd of Columbus; two sisters, Peggy "Cooky" Shepherd of Ellettsville, and Karen and her husband Kenny Scales of Spencer; a brother Jamie B. Shepherd and his wife Lori of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at the Pentecostal Faith Assembly Church, 1301 W. 11th St., Bloomington, with the Rev. Michael Douglas and Larry Tingle officiating. Burial will be at the Gosport Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home in Columbus and today from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
