Lucille (Nance) Combs, 85, of Rockford, Ill., and formerly of Ottawa, Ill., passed away Friday, March 3, 2006 at Amberwood Nursing Center in Rockford.
Born Aug. 18, 1920 in Pike County, she was the daughter of Roscoe Nance and Elzada Purl. On March 14, 1941, she married Gilbert Stanley Combs at the First United Methodist Church in Vincennes
She worked for the Indiana State University Library. She was a 1937 graduate of Petersburg High School and went on to Lockyear's Business College in Evansville.
Survivors include: two daughters, Ann and her husband Mark Ziegler of Rockford, Ill., and Nancy Rabago of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Le Ayer Collins of Las Vegas, Nev., Courtney Ziegler of Rockford, Ill., Ashley Snider of Rockford, Ill., Josh Ziegler of La Valle, Wis., and Tanae Rabago of Las Vegas, Nev.; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gilbert, and two sons, Thomas Marion Combs and Gilbert Roscoe Combs.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, and 9 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
