Lester L. Reed, 88, of Jasonville, passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born Feb. 8, 1918 in Clay County, he was the son of William D. and Amanda V. Craig Reed. On Jan. 12, 1940, he married Mary G. Reed. She preceded him in death July 10, 2000.
He had retired from General Electric after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Jasonville Assembly of God Church. He was the oldest living member and currently serving on the church board, and he was actively involved with the church's fundraisers, especially the dinners as chef and chief noodle maker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Robert Ostby of Columbus; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev., Dr. Donald and Paula Reed of Fort Wayne, and Paul and Martha Reed of Dana; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, two sisters, and four brothers.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Jasonville Assembly of God Church with Pastor Sam Bush officiating. Burial will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland with military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today, and 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jasonville Assembly of God Church. Envelopes will be available during visitation and service times.
