Betty Jane Stevenson, 83, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday morning, March 4, 2006 in Union Hospital.
Born Sept. 21, 1922 in Clay County, she was the daughter of Edna and Sam Miller. She had been married to William Sargeant Stevenson.
She was a homemaker. She grew up in Parke County, lived for several years in Jasonville, and resided in Terre Haute during the past 20 years. She was employed in many different jobs during her working years including housekeeper at Indiana State University, factory worker at the Terre Haute Malleable and Chesty Potato Chips, and was a waitress at the Terre Haute House, and the Shrine Club. She was baptized in the Methodist faith.
Survivors include: her children and grandchildren, Mike Burton and his wife Brenda of Toledo, Ohio, and their children, Nikki, Troy and Chuck; William Pete Stevenson and his wife Joan of Bowling Green, Ky., and their son, Cooper Pete; Sandy Baxter and her husband Wayne of Jasonville, and their children, Amy and Jeff; Lila Massa of Linton and her sons, David and Dan; Jane Miller and her husband Brian of Terre Haute, and their children, Corisa and Kurt; Salley, the wife of deceased son, Robert Allen Burton, and the children of Robert; Bobby, Vince, Matthew, JF, Andrew, Kevin and Mark. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Sargeant Stevenson, two sisters, two brothers, and a son Robert Allen Burton. She had two children who were stillborn, Jerry and Brenda.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, Terre Haute. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery in Midland.
Friends may call from noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
