Hazel Harriet Owen Morris, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday morning, March 16, 2006 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born June 9, 1923 in Clay County, she was the daughter of Everett D. and Alpina Burris Owen.
She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1941. She worked for Standard Brands (later Nabisco Brands) in Indianapolis for 46 years. She was a member of the Keystone Christian Church, the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, the AARP, other senior groups, the Millersville Order of the Eastern Star, and was the recording secretary for the Amalgamated Butcher's and Meat Cutters Union. She was active with the International Union.
Survivors include: a son Dale E. Morris of Indianapolis; a stepson James D. Morris of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren, Robert Morris of Chicago, Ill., Jennifer Lanstrum of Portsmouth, Va., Melissa Bagby, Rick Poplin, Gregory Morris, James Morris, Julie Morris, Alora McAllister, and Randy Willis, all of Indianapolis; and five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Alexander, and Ashleigh Bagby, Michael Lanstrum, and Rylee Poplin; four sisters, Myla Hash, Agnes Earle, Ida Sipes, and Norma Eavey; and a brother Everett Gerald Owen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Edgar Morris, Jr., five brothers, Albert, Floyd, Roy F., Ora Ray, and Carl Owen, and two sisters, Fay Owen and Iona Dell Owen.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday at the mortuary in the Crown Hill Cemetery, 38th St. and Michigan Road, Indianapolis. Burial will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. to the time of service Monday at the mortuary.
