GREENTOWN -- Alsie O. Hord, 87, of Greentown, passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Century Villa Health Care in Greentown.
Born Feb. 18, 1919 in Greene County, he was the son of William C. and Mamie L. (Hardisty) Hord. His first wife, Wilma Ashcraft Hord, preceded him in death Sept. 21, 1969. On Au. 4, 1972, he married Mary Ruth Evans.
He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1937. From 1939 to 1947 he lived in Kokomo, then moved to Greenwood. He worked at Haynes Stellite from 1942 until he retired in 1972. He attended First United Methodist Church, Greenwood and was a 50-year member of Howard Masonic Lodge No. 93 Kokomo.
Survivors include: his wife Mary Ruth Hord of Greenwood; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Carol Hord of Kokomo, and Kent and Beverly Evans of Greentown; a daughter Sherry Hord of Greentown; grandchildren, Tami Berner, William Hord, Jr., Heather Hord, Holly Melton, Hope Harp, Abby Evans, Weston Evans, and Rebecca Hanson; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Wilma Ashcraft Hord, his parents, three brothers, Earl, Wilber, and Russell, three sisters, Allene Sherrow, Clarice Lynch, and Madge Baker, a daughter Mary Sue Voyles, and a granddaughter Amy Evans.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main, Greentown, with Pastor Michael Goodspeed officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Greenwood.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Howard Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
