Lucy E. Bickel, 70, of Jasonville, passed away at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006 at her residence.
Born Jan. 23, 1936 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Arley F. and Margaret Iris Baker Edelman. On Sept. 27, 1953, she married Donald W. "Don" Bickel, who passed away July 24, 2003.
She was a retired Avon representative. She was a lifelong member of the Coalmont Church of God, and later attended Lebanon Baptist Church, was a 24-year member and a Past President of the Gideon International Auxiliary Clay County Camp.
Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Jim Bradbury of Hymera, Diana Mitchell, Nancy and Dennis Jones and Debra and Steve Strahla, all of Jasonville, and Cheryl and Jeff Reed of Indianapolis; sons, Donnie Bickel of Coalmont, and David Bickel and special friend Sandy Cazee of Jasonville; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister Iris Green of Midland; a sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Larry Bickel of Columbus; brothers-in-law and wives, Ed and Joan Bickel of Columbus, Jack and Wanda Bickel of Coalmont, and Bill and Gudrun Bickel of Washington state; special friends Doc and Dorothy Eccles of Jasonville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, a grandson Billy Turley, son of Debra Strahla, and son-in-law Kerry Mitchell.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville with Pastors Harold Thomas and David Hoskins officiating. Burial will be at K of P Cemetery in Hymera.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
