TERRE HAUTE - Merrill L. Thomason, 89, of Terre Haute and formerly of Jasonville, passed away at 3:42 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at Meadows Manor North in Terre Haute.
Born March 16, 1916 in Clay County, he was the son of Gilbert and Elsie Hubble Thomason.
He was a neon tube bender and worked for the Ace Neon Sign Company in Terre Haute and the Staley Sign Company in Indianapolis. He was an Army veteran of WWII and served with the 38th Division, 151st Infantry, Service Company, Cyclone Division. He was a member of the Toronto Lodge #538 F&AM of Toronto, Ohio, and a member of the I.B.E.W. Local #481 of Indianapolis.
Survivors include: a daughter Pamela S. Thomason of Statesboro, Ga.; a brother Johnny Thomason of Anderson; a niece Jane Beaver of Glenwood; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Evelyn "Eve" Burns Thomason, who passed away in February 1989, and his second wife Evelyn Whittington Hastings Thomason, who passed away in April 2003.
Graveside service will be held in Dale Cemetery, 801 Gregg Road, Connersville, today at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Phil Mitchell officiating.
