John A. Bennett, 51, of Odon, passed away at 4:13 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 at Daviess Community Hospital.
Born Aug. 29, 1955 in East Louis, Ill., he was the son of Charles Bennett and Helen Schlomer. On Dec. 17, 1983, he married Kay Moore.
He was a heavy equipment operator for eight-and-a-half years for Black Beauty Coal Mine. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the Marines and a 25-year member of the American Legion Post 2250 of Mitchell.
Survivors include: his wife Kay Bennett of Odon; his children, Charlie E. Bennett of Odon and Scottie Bennett of Odon; his mother Helen Bennett of Vincennes; and two sisters, Teresa and her husband Steve McCandless of Haysville and Jennifer and her husband Brian Fink of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles, and his grandparents.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home in Odon with the Bro. Doug Kutch officiating. Burial will be at Bunkum Union Chapel Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be by the American Legion and VFW.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
