Ruby Nelda Smith, 77, of Jasonville, passed away at 4:55 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, 2006 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
Born Feb. 3, 1928 in Gilmore, she was the daughter of John H. and Hazel (Wasmer) Smith.
She was a custodian for the Metropolitan School District of Shakamak with 24 years of service. She worked there from October 1978 until her retirement in February 2002. She was an active lifelong member of the Jasonville Assembly of God Church. She loved all animals especially her dog Luke.
Survivors include: a sister Beulah Fougerousse of Jasonville; a niece Peggy Sluder of Jasonville; two nephews, Larry and John Fougerousse, both of Jasonville; six great-nephews, Darren Sluder of Jasonville, Todd Fougerousse of Spencer, Troy and Tate Fougerousse both of Jasonville, Matt Fougerousse of Linton and Andy Sluder of Indianapolis; 12 great-great nieces and nephews; and two great-great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a twin sister Ruth Smith, and a half brother the Rev. Caleb Smith.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Jasonville Assembly of God Church with Pastor Sam Bush officiating. Burial will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
