BRADENTON, Fla. -- Richard O. Phillips, 77, of Bradenton, Fla., and formerly of Dugger and Linton, passed away at 6:10 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, 2006 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Fla.
Born Jan. 2, 1929 in Dugger, he was the son of Ora and Zara (Moore) Phillips.
He was the owner of Phillips Insurance Agency in Jasonville until his retirement 13 years ago. He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge 866 and F&AM Lodge 560, both of Linton, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and member of the Zorah Shrine, both of Terre Haute, and a member of the Greene County Shrine Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include: his wife JoAnn (Burkeybyle) Phillips of Bradenton, Fla.; three daughters, Janie and her husband John Fish of McLean, Va., Elesa and her husband Mike McCann of Noblesville, and Navi Van Wormer and Joe Vernon of Walton; a sister Helen Pahmier of Yorktown, seven grandchildren, Emily and Eric Fish of McLean, Va., Katie and Patrick McCann of Noblesville, Charity Kester of Terre Haute, Amy Dietrich of Lafayette, and Sheena Van Wormer of Peru; and one great-granddaughter Charissa Ann Cinnamon Roe of Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Wayne, Lowell, and Harold Phillips.
Memorial service will be at a later date.
