Ralph R. "Red" Mitchell, 94, of Sullivan and formerly of Cass, passed away at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006 at Sullivan County Community Hospital.
Born Dec. 2, 1911 in Spencer, he was the son of Alonzo and Matilda (Parrish) Mitchell.
He was a member of the Cass United Methodist Church for 65 years, attended Farmersburg Methodist Church and retired from Peabody Coal Mine.
Survivors include: three daughters, Norma June Thompson of Linton, Belva Baker and husband Jay of Windfall, and Judy Wayman of Dugger; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae McCammon Mitchell in 1993; one daughter, Vivian Bland; two brothers, Wayne and Earl Mitchell; and a granddaughter, Angela Reeves.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Dugger Cemetery with the Rev. Don Ransford officiating. There is no visitation.
Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger is in charge of arrangements.
