Dorothy Josephine James, 80, of Solsberry, passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2005 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born July 7, 1925 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Harvey Helms Sr. and Mildred Heaton. She was married to Russell James Sr.
She had retired from the Indiana University, where she worked as a custodian. She was a member of the Pentecostal Faith.
Survivors include: her husband Russell of Solsberry; a daughter Judy Black of Solsberry; five sons, Russell James Jr. of Solsberry, Bob F. James of Bloomfield, Jerrell L. James of Bloomington, Joe James of Bloomfield, and Donald T. James of Solsberry; three brothers, Harvey Helms Jr. of Bloomington, Homer Helms of Spencer, and Ronnie Helms of Bloomfield; five sisters, Dolly VanDeventer of Bloomfield, Vada Clayton, Lorene Lindsey, Nancy Craig, and Nellie Yoho, all of Bloomington; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Oscar Helms, and two sisters, Margaret Leigh and Evelyn Hamilton.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home Bloomfield with the Rev. Eugene Helms officiating. Burial will be at Bingham Cemetery at Solsberry.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the funeral home.
