Rex M. Jerrels, 72, of Dugger, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005 at his residence.
Born Jan. 8, 1933 in Sullivan County, he was the son of Delmas and Masle L. Hale Jerrels.
He was a 1951 graduate of Pleasantville High School and was a United States Air Force veteran. He retired from Amax Coal Co. He attended Mount Moriah Church, and was a member of the Dugger Masonic Lodge and the Shrine of Terre Haute. He drove in the Dusters four-wheeler unit in the Linton Fourth of July parade, and he was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors include: a sister Virginia Robertson and her husband Jimmy of Linton; two nieces, Lisa Burch of Baldwinsville, N.Y., and Michelle Flynn and her husband David of Linton; a nephew Jeff Jones and his wife Jane of Winslow; a step-niece; two step-nephews; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Bill Jerrels.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger, with the Rev. James Baldwin and the Rev. Cletus Bough officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
