Russell Crites Jr., 78, of Bloomfield, passed away at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born July 22, 1927 in Greene County, he was the son of Russell Crites, Sr. and Manda VanDeventer Crites. He was married to Betty (LaVanne) Crites.
He worked at NWSC Crane in inventory and was an U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was a member of the Bloomfield Lions Club.
Survivors include: his wife Betty of Bloomfield; two sons, David G. Crites and his wife Joan of Columbus and Dennis J. Crites and his wife Cheryl of Bloomfield; a brother Kenneth L. Crites of Mooresville; two sisters, Roberta Neill of Bloomfield and Betty Arthur of Brazil; a granddaughter Angel Walls of Bloomfield; a great-granddaughter Hannah Walls of Bloomfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rovena Daubenspeck.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home Bloomfield with the Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. today, and one hour prior to service Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association.
