Marjorie A. Walters, 76 of Indianapolis passed away on Friday, Dec. 23, 2005.
Born Oct. 24, 1929 in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Victor and Helen Lorena (Payne) Grubbs.
On Aug. 19, 1948, she married Bob Walters, who served as mayor of the city of Linton from 1973-1980.
She was the former co-owner of Bob Walters Lincoln-Mercury dealership and Walters Insurance Agency, both in Linton. She was a branch manager at the Linton BMV branch and a society editor for the Linton Daily Citizen. She graduated from Linton-Stockton High School in 1947 and attended Indiana University.
She was a member of the Linton United Methodist Church, BPO Elks #866, Ladies Auxiliary and Psi Iota Xi. She was one of three women in the state to be a member of the National Auto Dealer Association.
Survivors include: two daughters, Katherine A. Walters of Franklin and Carolea Walters of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Anderson-Poindexter Memorial Chapel with the Rev. William Red Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Robert and Marjorie Walters Scholarship Fund or to the Linton United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
