Hazel Wells, 100, of Greenwood and formerly of Spencer, died Dec. 25, 2005 at Greenwood Health and Living Center.
Born June 29,1905 in Owen County, she was the daughter of William Dean and Jeanne Alice (Fulk) Jean.
She graduated from Indiana State Normal College in 1927 and then taught at Haxton, New Dean, Flint, Mich., Tolono, Ill. and Monroe County. She was a member of the Freedom United Methodist Church, and a former member of Lakewood Women's Club, Lakewood, Ohio, and Arlington Heights Homemakers Club, Bloomington. She was the widow of Milo Wells who passed away May 1984.
Survivors include: three nieces, Virginia McKay, Plainfield, Marjorie Carpenter, Owensboro, Ky., and Emily Maupin Bender, Greenwood and one nephew, Max Wells of Evansville.
She was preceded in death by: one brother, Harlan Dwight Jean and one sister, Marguerite Maupin.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Burial will follow at Pleasant Bethel Cemetery in Owen County.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday.
