Cecil Pope, 87, of Dugger, passed away at 11:22 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 26, 2005 at Glenburn Home in Linton.
Born May 16, 1918 in Sullivan County, he was the son of Bert and Nellie (Curry) Pope.
He was a retired self-employed truck driver and was a member of the Dugger American Legion Post 224.
Survivors include: a son Larry Pope of Dugger; a brother Russell Pope of Martinsville; three sisters, Mary F. Monroe of Carlisle, Katherine Arnold of Michigan, and Mildred of North Carolina; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hazel Burch and two sons, Rick and Don.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with the Rev. John Booker officiating. Burial will be in Dugger Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. The Dugger American Legion will have graveside rites.
