Marguerite L. Messick, 94, of Linton, passed away on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 3, 2005 at her daughter's residence in Linton.
Born on Aug. 22, 1911 in Clay County, she was the daughter of George Rubin and Elizabeth Prudence (Norris) Shields.
She had worked at J.C. Penney and Keller Chair Factory, both in Linton, and at NWSC Crane. She was a member of the Worthington First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Carolyn Porter of Linton and Joanne Reed of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Keith Messick, Ronnie Reed, Cindy Overs, Karie Pullum, and Jamie Grimes; and three great-grandchildren, Eli Porter Fox, Wesley Pullum, and Danielle Messick.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Messick; two sons, Jack Messick, and Carolyn's twin brother, Harry Ray Messick; four brothers, Harry, George, Joe, and Jim Shields; three sisters, Ada Putoff, Lula Graves, and Mae Dowden; a grandson, Michael Reed; a great-grandson, Mitchell Pullum; and her parents.
Funeral service will be conducted at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel at 11 a.m. on Monday with the Rev. Hurshel Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Worthington Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, and after 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
